The Primary School at Marrara is a vibrant, Christ centred, community of learning. We work together applying our four values:Right Choices, Service, Compassion and Dedication. We call these four values the RiSe CoDe. Students consistently hear and apply the RiSe CoDe to their school experience. We value and care deeply for every child in our school. Each child is uniquely created by God with great value and for His purpose. We endeavor to meet the needs of every student academically, spiritually, socially and physically, as we nurture the ‘Whole Child’.

The learning environment is orderly and conducive to maximising learning. Teachers actively work from a positive behaviour approach which focuses on the correct behaviours as well as affirming and encouraging the students to “give it a go” and try their best.

Each day, students share in devotions to develop their understanding and faith in God and spend intentional time developing their understanding of the world we live in. Literacy and Numeracy skills are integral and each class caters for the varying needs, styles and levels of our students. The standards-based curriculum follows the Australian Curriculum and the Northern Territory Curriculum Framework. The application of the curriculum is taught through the perspective of a Biblical World View.

Marrara Primary has a highly committed selection of teachers. Together, teachers work in teams dedicated to ensuring effective curriculum planning; social and emotional well-being of students; fitness activities; as well as the co-curricular activities such as camps and excursions. The collegial and friendly workplace translates into happy and engaged classes working hard to achieve academic progress.

As a Primary School, we have participated in numerous sports and gala days, often achieving high placing in these sports events. We encourage all students, regardless of ability, to be a part of these sporting days and “have a go”. Students are encouraged to perform to the best of their own ability and to work as a team which results in memorable and enjoyable sports days. Our Swimming and Athletics Carnivals are also a highlight where we join in with the Middle and Senior Schools as a whole Marrara Community.

We acknowledge students have strengths in all areas and encourage students to pursue their best in all areas of learning. Instrumental music is offered to students for lessons during school hours. The Primary School Choir is beginning this year and will be a wonderful contribution to our Primary Assemblies.
