Message from the President

Since its establishment in 2005, SIM University (UniSIM) has been providing opportunities in qualification upgrading for professionals and adult learners. As a centre of excellence in learning for life, we have designed a curriculum that meets the needs of adult learners - one that helps them to achieve a balance between their pursuit of academic qualifications, their family commitments and their responsibilities at work and to society.

In 2012, UniSIM received a mandate from the Ministry of Education to offer full-time university places to fresh school leavers – this not only opens another avenue for Singaporeans to meet their aspirations for higher education, it also, through UniSIM, creates new and exciting degree pathways for our students. These full-time direct honours programmes will be government-funded.

In the same spirit and practice-orientation that characterise UniSIM's part-time programmes, the full-time programmes emphasise education that has real-world ideas and practices, and deepens relevant workplace skills that employers value. Our students will be application-oriented and self-directed learners who will value the benefits of lifelong learning. They will also have a strong sense of social responsibility.

However, what UniSIM offers goes far beyond higher education as we also seek to provide a transformative experience for students. It is not only a meeting place of ideas and passion, and a stepping stone for hopes and dreams to materialise, but also a platform for opportunities to contribute meaningfully to society.
